The Sample Room was a natural starting point and the heart of the Ateliers Jacob showroom. In many ways, it is the space around which the entire project is conceived. It is defined less by cabinetry than by the way one enters it. Thick walls embrace the original columns of the 1800s building, giving rise to deep, generous archways that frame the entry as much as it shapes the experience of passage. The experience reads like the mouth of a Inside, the palette is dark and unapologetic: deep-stained white oak in PE finish, charcoal interiors, and a deliberate use of black and deep tones throughout that gives the space its particular weight. The feeling is refined rather than heavy, streamlined rather than ornate. Everything has been calibrated to hold an atmosphere that aligns with what Ateliers Jacob represents—dark, composed, and deliberately restrained.

The cabinetry is where this balance becomes most articulate. Flat doors in white oak, finished in a dark stain, are framed by panels that extend three-quarters of an inch beyond the surface on all sides. The detailing reframes the composition in a subtle, continuous outline. This creates a contemporary interpretation of framed cabinetry, closer in spirit to Scandinavian rigor, and reads as architectural rather than decorative. It is a refined detail that achieves its effect without requiring complex or costly fabrication.

Integrated lighting within the shelving and LED detailing brings depth to the interior volumes, The fixtures from Luminaires Authentik with their frosted opal glass cast a diffused, ambient light across the space while the smoky mirror surfaces extend and soften reflections, while reinforcing the atmospheric quality of the space.

The Sample Room, at its core, is a space where clients come to choose materials, finishes, and directions. It was therefore designed to remain open-ended, offering enough character to inspire while leaving room for projection and choice. The deep tones and the detail hold a mood without holding you to one. That balance between being visually present, but never prescriptive is what makes the Sample Room the natural center of the showroom.
