This statement, made by a participant at the new PalliaVie Day Center, perfectly captures the full significance of the project that opened in Saint-Jérôme on June 17, 2026. Behind the walls, spaces, and furnishings of the PalliaVie Pavilion lies much more than just a building: it is a place designed to make daily life easier, provide respite, and support people receiving palliative care with dignity, compassion, and humanity.

Ateliers Jacob is proud to have contributed to this extraordinary project by providing custom-made furniture for the PalliaVie Pavilion, the very first day centre specializing in palliative care in the Laurentians. For our team, this involvement is a natural extension of who we are: a local business, deeply rooted in our community and committed to the people here.

For over 40 years, PalliaVie has been supporting people with serious illnesses and their loved ones. Founded by two pioneering nurses from Saint-Jérôme, Denise Pichette and Francine Nadeau-Heim, the organization has supported more than 13,000 people since 1983. With its new day centre, outpatient clinic, and hospice, PalliaVie now offers a seamless continuum of free care in an environment designed to welcome, comfort, and support.

In a place like this, every detail matters. A surface, a cabinet, a counter, a storage space, everything contributes to the experience of patients, caregivers, volunteers, and healthcare teams. The furniture isn’t just functional; it becomes part of the care. It helps create a warm, safe, and human environment.

This is where Ateliers Jacob’s artisanal expertise truly comes into its own. Designing custom furniture means understanding the real needs of the people who will inhabit a space. It means building with precision, but also with sensitivity. In the context of the Pavillon PalliaVie, our craftsmanship had to serve a mission greater than ourselves: to provide a place where people can find respite, receive support, and then return home, feeling a little more at ease.

This project also reflects remarkable local involvement and exceptional community mobilization. Donors, volunteers, partners, entrepreneurs, and artisans have come together around a single goal: to provide residents of the Laurentians with access to local, free, and deeply compassionate palliative care services. The fundraising campaign raised more than $7 million, in addition to major donations of materials, goods, and services.
