Ateliers Jacob has given form to this intimacy with a bespoke design that places key functions within easy reach and maintains a direct connection between the kitchen and the rest of the room. Each element helps simplify interactions, movements, and make shared moments more intentional.

The complementary tones soften the transitions between the kitchen, dining room, and living room, while allowing each material to retain its texture. The kitchen blends seamlessly into the open-plan space, creating a place to slow down, care for one another, and give our full attention to the moment at hand.

When Colours Speak Softly

The ivory fronts, countertop, and backsplash create a tone-on-tone palette, ranging from light stone to warm grey.

Caesarstone Fresh Concrete quartz extends this harmony. Its mineral hue evokes weathered concrete with a softened texture. Slightly darker than the cabinetry, it covers the countertops and extends into a full-height backsplash. This continuous surface unifies the different work areas in a single ivory tone.

Nearby, the brick introduces a more organic warmth. Its deep colour, the rhythm of its mortar joints, and its irregularities add depth to the composition. Against the smooth surfaces and restrained lines of the kitchen, it brings an unexpected element that makes the whole space more vibrant. Row by row, the meticulous craftsmanship of the masonry becomes apparent, while the light colours highlight its grain and depth.

Appliances That Fade into the Background

The induction cooktop sits nearly flush with the quartz. In this open-plan space, its discrete profile gives the kitchen a subtle presence that flows naturally into the rest of the room.

The built-in refrigerator continues this quest for integration. Aligned with the full-height cabinetry, it eliminates any visual breaks and allows the kitchen to be perceived as a calm, unified whole. Its placement, away from the windows, also allows more light to flow into the living and dining areas, reinforcing the feeling of openness throughout the space.

An Island Designed to Bring People Together

The island was designed to suit the open-plan space, both in its proportions and in how it is used. Its generous countertop offers ample room for food preparation before extending toward the stools, providing a place for morning coffee, an impromptu meal, or the quiet presence of those who linger near the cooking activities and aromas.

Above, a pendant light with a slender profile runs the entire length of the island. Its horizontal shape emphasizes the island’s proportions and creates a more intimate area around the countertop. Within the expansive open-plan space, this luminous feature gives the kitchen a human scale.
