Hello, it’s a great day to start a project.
Contemporary Kitchen
The best summer moments often happen in the kitchen. Doors left open a little too long onto the patio. Fruit cut up on the counter while dinner simmers away. Conversations that linger long after the meal as the day gently fades.
In this kitchen, a summery atmosphere fills the room. Outside, the trees sway gently in the warm breeze, and their green foliage softly reflects throughout the kitchen’s light surfaces.
The space exudes a sense of natural calm. The white Dekton lightens the space, while the dark walnut adds more depth. The materials seem to respond to one another gently, in a simple and soothing balance.
Dekton Stonika Natura plays a defining role here. Used for both countertops and the backsplash, its veining runs across the surfaces, like a continuous movement within the material.
The marble-inspired veining extends from the countertop to the wall, where a slight ledge marks the edge of the material. The mineral surface seems to envelop the work areas rather than simply cover them.
On the islands, Dekton cascades down the sides. The volumes take on a more monolithic, almost sculpted presence. This continuity reinforces the visual stability of the whole and accentuates the kitchen’s architectural character.
The kitchen is organized around a central walkway flanked on either side by long base cabinets and two parallel islands. This layout naturally facilitates movement throughout the room and gives the whole space a very instinctive sense of fluidity.
The open layout allows the eye to wander freely from one end of the kitchen to the other, all the way to the windows overlooking the swaying trees. This horizontal flow brings a great deal of calm and light to the space.
The two islands define the centre of the room. One houses the cooking area beneath the hood integrated into a walnut cabinet, while the other serves as a more spontaneous prep and gathering space. Between the two, the walkways remain generous and unobstructed.
The generous work surfaces allow several people to cook together without getting in each other’s way or to come back inside and set down a few still-chilled glasses after time spent out on the terrace.
Open to the rest of the house, the layout allows voices, the aromas of the meal, and the warm air flowing in through the windows in summer to circulate naturally. A calm and familiar feeling, capable of stretching out the evenings and gently weaving some of the most beautiful summer memories.
Walnut brings warmth to the project. Its rich, nuanced hue introduces a visual depth that gently evolves with the light of day.
The cabinet fronts reveal the natural variations in the grain without seeking perfect uniformity. Each panel retains its lines, nuances, and subtle irregularities. The wood remains alive throughout the kitchen.
The vertical grain also accentuates the height of the volumes and creates a smooth continuity with the upper cabinets, allowing the lines of the walnut to extend naturally throughout the space.
Above the main island, the integrated hood naturally extends this same material logic. Clad in vertical walnut slats, this architectural element introduces a rhythm to the kitchen.
This vertical repetition also brings a more sensory dimension to the project. The material becomes more tactile, more alive to the eye. One perceives the wood’s density, its texture, and its thickness more keenly.
The hood acts almost as a focal point at the heart of the kitchen. It is here that, year after year, those balmy summer evenings will be spent, leaving behind memories whose warmth will linger long after the season has passed.
